As a parent/caregiver of a member of the Phoenix Athletics Club I agree to the following code of conduct:
As the parent of an athlete I will show respect for the Phoenix Athletics Club coaches by:
• Ensuring my child arrives at practice on time and rings the coach before training if they are unable to attend.
• Attending to any requests from the coach in a timely manner.
• Not approaching coaches during training sessions.
• Not trying to take over training sessions but be willing to help coaches if asked.
• Encouraging my child to give 100% commitment to the whole season and making them accountable if they do not.
• Support the coaches if they need to address behavioural issues with my child.
• Role modeling a healthy lifestyle and making it easy for my child to achieve the same.
• Helping with equipment.
• Not making negative comments about the coaches especially in front of any athlete.
• Informing the Phoenix Athletics Club if any other coach attempts to get my child to join their squad.
• Informing my coaches if I am unhappy with any aspect of the coaching and trying to work through any issues that arise with that coach.
As the parent of an athlete I will show respect for other club parents and athletes by:
• Always making any comments about other athletes in a positive and encouraging manner.
• Appreciating the achievements of those who perform better than my child and congratulating them on their performance.
• Respecting the efforts made by athletes not achieving as highly as my child and never making derogatory comments about them. • Happily taking my turn at officiating or duty club including being on time.
• Expecting appropriate amounts of the coach’s time so that other athletes are not disadvantaged.
As the parent of an athlete I will show respect for the club by:
• Supporting the Phoenix Athletics Club to accumulate equipment and facilities to enable excellence in coaching.
• Always behaving in a friendly and courteous manner when wearing Phoenix Athletics Club uniform or acting as a representative of the Phoenix Athletics Club.
• Not involving myself in any negative conversations about the club or our coaches or other athletes.
• Meeting financial obligations to the club in a timely manner.
• Encouraging my child to participate in relays at competitions.
• Approaching the Team Manager or Phoenix Athletics Club Captain if I disagree with an officials’ ruling and never abusing or arguing with officials in public.
As the parent of an athlete I will show respect for my child by:
• Praising their efforts and improvements no matter what their placing.
• Allowing them to achieve their dreams and aspirations not mine.
